ABOUT THE IDMA/DVDA EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The annual IDMA/DVDA Excellence Awards are presented by the Intermational Digital media Alliance for the benefit of the optical discand online publishing communities, our members and sponsors. These awards recognize excellence in the talent, creativity, craftsmanship andapplication of technology in the production and authoring of DVD and Blu-Ray Discs, as well as online media and websites.

To reflect the industry’s growth into the next generation oftechnology, the IDMA Excellence Awards are open toStandard Definition DVD and High Definition Blu-ray Discs, as well asour newest division, for Online/Downloadable/Interactive/Streamingcontent and podcasts.

Overall quality of a finished title or entry is considered, but relativeaudience appeal of the content is not a criterion in the judging. Skills used in the art and science of the creation of each entry determine the final score. The Excellence Awards are awarded on merit rather than being a traditional competition. Entries are not ranked as first, second or third place; Instead, an independent panel of Optical Disc and digital media professionals will score a maximum of 100 points for each entry, based on designated criteria.

The different formats are not judged against each other, but rather, each title is evaluated objectively in its entry category. This method means it is possible that there may be a single award, many awards, or perhaps no award in any given category. It also means that either or both of the optical disc formats can be deemed worthy of an “Excellence Award” in a given category. Please note that online content does NOT compete against DVD or Blu-ray Discs, and optical discs do not compete in online categories.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Entry is open to all distributors, producers, publishers, artists, developers, authors and designers in all product categories, in the proper division.

• It is the sole creator (with or without co-authors), and/or warrants it holds rights to the content presented,
and does not harm any third party’s rights, or private life or likeliness, or infringe any law, especially copyright law

The IDMA/DVDA reserves the right to reject any entry with content that, in its sole opinion, may be perceived as deliberately pornographic, discriminatory or violent. Content or discs submitted cannot be withdrawn from competition once the application has been accepted. Entrants are responsible for paying all costs for shipping optical disc titles to the IDMA.
